New publication: Cationic Nanocellulose for PFAS removal

Our group has published new results on the use of cationic cellulose nanofibrils for the selective removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), particularly perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), in the presence of humic acid from contaminated water streams.

The study, published in ACS Omega, highlights the Cat-CNF/HA hybrid as a robust and regenerable adsorbent with rapid equilibrium attainment for PFOA remediation in high-contamination scenarios, with HA contributing both to contaminant binding and adsorbent performance.

This work was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Science at Stockholm University.
